215. An Evening of Summer Music with the Marble Hill Singers, Cutlers’ Hall, Monday 17 June 2024
Claire Pocock, Mistress Cutler, invited friends and colleagues to an informal evening of summer music at Cutlers’ Hall.
Michael Pocock, Master Cutler, welcomed us. After a glass of champagne, we were shown to
the Livery Hall laid for supper. There
was no seating plan so the audience mingled with the Marble Hill Singers, who
were obliged to sing for their supper!
We were treated to a varied repertoire, ranging from Rachmaninov to Cole
Porter, before, during and after the meal, the most modern music being a
setting of The Teddy Bears’ Picnic!
Conductor Rebecca Taylor expertly directed the singers. Rebecca has impressive international
credentials.
The simple supper was quite delicious.
Based in Twickenham, the choir often go on European
tours. Mistress Cutler has been a member
of the singers for quite some time, as has Adrian Mumford, Clerk to the
Plumbers and organist extraordinaire.
This was a lovely relaxed evening with friends old and new.
